SCULPTRA

Sculptra® Aesthetic works subtly and gradually over time for a more youthful looking appearance. Sculptra does not work instantly like dermal fillers. With Sculptra, you’ll see an instant volume effect for the first couple of days, followed by a decrease in volume. At this point, the body slowly starts to produce its own collagen, re-establishing the volume that has been lost over time. Sculptra can also improve the skin’s texture. Many patients have noticed an improvement in their skin’s overall appearance in the areas treated with Sculptra.

FAQs

How long does an appointment for Sculptra take?

We schedule each client for 30 minutes per treatment.

What should I expect after Sculptra?

After any injection, there is a chance for bruising and swelling. You will be instructed to massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 days.

Can I wear makeup after the injection of Sculptra?

Yes, we ask you to wait a few hours post-injection before putting makeup on.

How many vials of Sculptra will I need?

We typically start all patients with 4 vials. Two vials will be injected at the first visit, 1 at the second visit, and 1 at the third visit. It is recommended to have 1 vial per decade of life. (4 vials if you are in your 40’s, 5 vials if you are in your 50’s) After you have received the full series of injections it is recommended that you have a maintenance vial yearly to keep the results.

Is Sculptra a filler?

Sculptra is made with a biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to rebuild lost collagen through a series of treatments administered by our injector.

Are there any side effects from Sculptra?

Side effects reported include bleeding, swelling, tenderness, injection site pain, redness, itching, and nodules. Nodules can form under the skin if strict, massaging instructions are not followed.

When will I see the results?

At your first treatment, it may appear that Sculptra worked immediately due to the water used in the treatment to activate the product. In a couple of days, the water is completely absorbed by the body and the swelling goes down. You will then look like you did before the procedure. At three weeks or so the collagen starts regenerating and a “tightening” of the tissues starts to occur. Sculptra takes time to gradually correct the depression in your skin. This can be 6 months- 1 year.

How safe is Sculptra?

Sculptra is synthetic based and approved by the FDA. It has been tested extensively and has been proven to be safe and effective for cosmetic use. It utilizes processed poly-L-lactic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in humans, so rejection of the product is rare.
