MICROLASER PEEL

A MicroLaser Peel removes a thin layer of damaged skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. The procedure is performed in your physician’s office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.

FAQs

When should I expect results?

Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture, and color evenness once the skin heals in approximately 3-4 days.

Conditions that can be treated include:
  • Mild wrinkles
  • scars
  • Keratosis
  • Sun Damage (freckles)
  • Pigmented irregularities
What is a MicroLaser Peel?

The MicroLaserPeel safely and precisely removes the outer layer of the skin, replacing the dead skin cells with new, healthy cells to improve the texture and clarity of the skin.

What should I do to prepare for a MicroLaser Peel?
  • Stop taking oral Retin-A and/or Accutane 6 months prior to any laser treatments
  • Stop using topical Retinols/Triluma and any strong skincare products the day before your treatment.
  • Let us know if you have a tendency for cold sores, we can call in a prescription for anti-viral medication.
What should I expect after MicroLaser Peel?

The MicroLaser Peel can be adjusted from a light “lunchtime peel” to a more aggressive treatment depending on your individual skincare concerns and needs.

-Cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser AM & PM for 1 week

-Apply moisturizer to entire treated area at least 2-3 times per day or as needed when skin feels dry. You may use Alastin Skin Nectar, moisturizer, soothing balm or over the counter Aquaphor ointment. Continue for 3-7 days or until skin begins to look healed and feel less dry.

-Make sure to apply sunscreen daily (30 spf or higher) to treated area and reapply as directed. We advise no direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks after your treatment to avoid significant sunburns (including tanning beds).

-Beginning on day 4-7 (depending on the depth of your treatment) you may begin to wear makeup as long as there are no open sores. Do not apply makeup over any open areas. It is best to use a mineral based makeup or chemical free. We offer Jane Iredale Minerale Makeup at Lake Medical Spa.

-A mild exfoliating scrub can be used starting on days 4-7 to help reduce the amount of peeling.

Following your treatment:

-Sleep with your head elevated

-Ice packs or refrigerated face masks will help reduce swelling and discomfort

-Ibuprofen may be taken every 4 hours for the first 1-2 days if needed

-You may have some mild swelling in the treated areas following your treatment. This should resolve in 24-48 hours.

-Avoid any exertional activity immediately following treatment as this can cause increased swelling.

  • Mild wrinkles

Does a MicroLaserPeel hurt?

MicroLaserPeel is very tolerable. Depending on the depth of your treatment, we may use a topical numbing cream, if you are doing a “lunchtime peel” the treatment is so tolerable topical numbing is not necessary. However, if you are concerned about the comfort of your procedure, you may also elect to take acetaminophen or ibuprofen before you arrive for your appointment.

How long do the results of a MicroLaserPeel last?

Some patients notice continual improvement over as long as six months after their first MicroLaserPeel, especially when combined with deeper-reaching laser or light treatments. However, you may elect to repeat your MicroLaserPeel as often as every 6 to 8 weeks depending on your unique needs and timeline.
