Ellacor® System with Micro-Coring™ Technology
Ellacor® uses hollow needles to remove micro-cores of skin, resulting in an improved appearance of wrinkles without evidence of scarring.
Ellacor® removes skin on the micro-scale, whereas many other skin revitalization devices use heat generated by laser, radiofrequency and ultrasound energy to induce intentional thermal injury to the skin.
As every patient has different needs, we recommend you speak with your provider to determine the treatment plan that is right for you. In the clinical trial, most patients underwent a series of three procedures spaced approximately 30 days apart.
An Ellacor® procedure typically takes about 30 minutes or less but plan to be at the office for an hour or so.
In the pivotal clinical trial, 70% of patients were comfortable going out in public or returning to work 3 days after the procedure. Therefore, some patients may feel comfortable going out in public sooner than three days, while other patients may prefer a longer recovery time. Furthermore, since every patient heals at different rates, there still may be mild to moderate side effects present after this time.
Ellacor® removes skin on the micro-scale without the use of thermal energy.
Microneedling uses small needles to injure the tissue, but it is not removed during this procedure – the tissue is temporarily displaced. Ellacor® is the first device to actually remove skin on the micro-scale.
Because darker skin types (V and VI) may react differently to aesthetic procedures than lighter skin types (I-IV), a separate clinical study is needed to evaluate the proper protocols for using Ellacor® on darker skin types.

PATIENT TREATMENT INFORMATION
How should I prepare for the Ellacor procedure?
PRE-PROCEDURE
Two Weeks Prior to Procedure:
- Do not consume any blood thinning agents such as aspirin, ibuprofen, herbal medications, or supplements such as grapeseed extract, Vitamin E, fish oil, etc.
- Avoid exposure to sun or tanning beds that could result in red, peeling, or swollen skin.
- Avoid invasive and minimally invasive skin procedures in the procedure area.
- If you are currently taking any type of blood thinners under the direction of a physician, please discuss this with your treating physician.
1 Day Prior to Procedure:
Shave excessive facial hair; beard and/or mustache. When possible, use an electric-powered shaver to minimize the potential for skin abrasions and cuts.
Day of Procedure:
- The skin on your face, chin, and neck should be free of makeup, lotions, and other skincare products.
- Wear comfortable clothes; avoid shirts with a high neck or collar.
- Plan on 1 hour for the procedure.
POST-PROCEDURE
- Refrain from the following activities until your skin has fully healed and has no open wounds, and holes have closed: Shaving, waxing, makeup and skin care products, using tanning beds and sunless tanning creams; scrubbing, scratching and/or picking at the treated area(s); contact sports or any activity that could cause injury to the treated site; submerging the treated area in water such as pools, whirlpools, oceans, etc.; and activities that result in overheating, such as long exposure to hot baths, spas, or excessive exercise
- Cleanse the treated area twice daily with water and a mild facial cleanser, pat dry with a clean towel. Do not scrub the treated area.
- Follow each cleansing with a light film of petrolatum until healed
- When cleaning your skin, use a clean towel each time to pat dry, or use a paper towel and discard after each use. Do not share your towels
- Avoid direct and prolonged sun exposure
- Do not pick or scratch the treated area
- Avoid sleeping on your face
- Use a clean mask every day; change the mask during the day if soiled
- Once skin has healed, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen ≥ 30 SPF
POST TREATMENT SKINCARE INSTRUCTIONS
Morning and Night (Twice Daily for 4 days)
- Alastin Gentle Cleanser
- Aquaphor
*Apply Aquaphor as needed throughout the day in a thin layer if dryness occurs
Days 5-7
- Alastin Gentle Cleanser
- Alastin Soothe + Protect Recovery Balm
- Alastin SilkSHIELD All Mineral Sunscreen (if leaving home, going outside)
*Can apply makeup at day 4 if needed (over sunscreen)
